Copyright Notice and Conditions of Use

This website has been constructed and placed on the internet as a resource for the general public, genealogists, and history enthusiasts. All of the material on this website is protected by Canadian and International Copyright Law. You may not copy anything from this site without my consent. I hold the copyright to all photographs, graphics and text unless otherwise stated, in which case the copyright holder (if known) will be acknowledged.

With regard to the transcriptions of biographies from A History of Toronto and County of York, the following applies. Although this 1885 publication’s copyright has expired (to the best of my knowledge) and it is now in the public domain, my transcription of the text, having been reformatted by me, is protected by current copyright law. It took many, many hours to transcribe the 300 (and counting) pages of the original book to be placed on this website. Therefore I ask that you not post anything from this website on another website or computer network without my permission.

I am aiming this statement principally at those who would steal others’ hard work for commercial gain. I have posted the contents of this website for personal use, enjoyment and edification, and stand to gain nothing financially from having done so. Accordingly, it is my intention that the material be available free of charge. If you wish to use anything from the site on another (non-commercial) website, in a book, on CD-ROM, or any other medium, please contact me first, with the following exception.

You may use small excerpts from the transcribed text (e.g., you find one of your ancestor’s bios and wish to place it on your personal home page), provided you acknowledge this website as the source and include a link to the site. If you want to use any of the photographs please contact me.

Thank you for taking the time to read this page and I do hope you will enjoy my website.
